Diamond Pendant - Page 2

The diamonds which are rare are even more expensive. Every diamond pendant or for that matter any diamond has some unique rarities in them. Here are the list of the 4Cs which exemplify the value of a real diamond:

Carat: A diamond size is measured in carat weight. Each carat is equal to 100 points. For instance, a 50 point diamond could be defined as .50 or ½ carat stone. The size that you choose depends on your personal taste and your budget. A large diamond pendant would cost more than a smaller one. A bigger diamond which is rarer than a smaller one has a fine dazzling cut and glitter to its advantage.

Clarity (Purity): The purity of the diamond could be assessed from the parameters given below:

FL (flawless) IF (internally flawless) VVS1 VVS2 (very, very small inclusions) VS1 VS2 (very small inclusions) SI1 SI2SI3 (small inclusions) I1 I2 I3 (visible inclusions)

Virtually all diamonds contain characteristics which could be identifiable, yet there are some traits which are not visible to the naked eye. Under the practiced eye of a jeweler’s 10x-magnifying loupe, natural phenomenon called inclusion which resembles tiny crystals, feathers or clouds could appear on the surface of the diamond. The amount, size, color and the positions of the inclusions and the blemishes resulting thereof, could affect a diamond’s clarity. These inclusions could disturb the path of light which could pass through a diamond. So, the greater a stone’s clarity, the more valuable and shiny would be the diamond.

If you want to gift your beloved a flawless diamond pendant, you would have to ensure that there is no speck of an inclusion or imperfection under the loupe. A gemologist’s microscope would identify the real flawlessness of the stone.

3. Color: This reveals the diamond’s whiteness. As we all know that a diamond indeed is a colorless mineral, it implies that colorless diamond pendants are the most treasured ones. Here are the different variations of color in a diamond:

D E F = Colorless G H I J = Near Colorless K L M = Faint Yellow N O P Q R = Very Light Yellow S T U V W X Y Z = Light Yellow
